Woodborn

This work investigates pareidolia by translating a raw organic form into a human-like character. By isolating the ‘figure’ and placing it on a brightly colored pedestal, I elevate a piece of natural debris into the role of a sitter for a portrait. The painting focuses on the tension between the object’s wooden texture and its anthropomorphic posture, questioning where the tree ends and the character begins.
